2600 startups, 1500 VCs, 600 journalists. This was Slush 2017.

Last week we attended Slush in Helsinki, and oh man, what an experience!

The conference has steadily grown to a 20 000 people event where the crème de la crème of VCs and angel investors attend as well as the best startups in Northern Europe. Slush is one of the biggest technology events in Europe and definitely the most stylish one. Daniel Ek, Founder of Spotify, has summarised it pretty well:

It's crazy. It´s big. It´s awesome.

As for Payr we had some pretty intense days lined up with investor meetings, networking parties and demoing the app at our Demo Booth. We are delighted to hear all the positive feedback from other attendees at Slush. You are all awesome!

We had a bunch of good meetings with investors and companies who are eager to partner up with Payr and join us on our journey, and at our stand we were kept busy all day speaking and explaining to curious people that wanted to know more about Payr and what we do.

In between everything we were inspired by some of the many great speakers and keynotes, and not at least checking out all the other great startups and stands. The team also got a chance to get some down-time and R&R at the beach, at the mighty Fintech Insider Beach Party. That might sound weird due to the fact that it is mid-winter in Finland, but the folks at Fintech Insider actually pulled it off. They invited relevant Fintech startups from the Nordics, and arranged for a huge, heated place filled with sand and beach-themed props, even pineapple and coconut drinks. We honestly didn't see that one coming.

The rallying call from this year's Slush was “Nothing normal ever changed a damn thing”. We couldn't agree more, and we can't wait to go back next year and show everyone all the crazy cool stuff we will be bringing to market in 2018.
